Believed to have originally been built in the early 1840's, the Fox and Hounds in Thurston has always been rooted in country pub tradition. Soon after opening came the nearby railway station and the expansion of the village placed the pub centrally in village life. Today it is very much a freehouse with its own identity and we strive to offer the same simple values of good cellarmanship and a friendly welcome that were very much at the heart of its origin.
We are a pet friendly pub and welcome frequent canine visitors to either bar.
Continuing the good work of previous landlords, Andy and Charlotte are committed to ensuring the Fox and Hounds continues to be renowned for its hospitaility, good beer and food and honest service.

Good beer is about choice and consistency and we make every effort to ensure our customers have both. Our Cask Marque accreditation is an indication of the quality we offer and we have been listed in the Good Beer Guide since 2003.
Voted 'Pub Of The Season' in Autumn 2022, 'Pub Of The Year' 2007, 2008 and 2009 by West Suffolk CAMRA, and Suffolk Pub Of The Year 2009', drinkers can be assured of a high standard of cellarmanship and a welcoming ear for suggestions. An enticing selection of guest beers are frequently sourced from throughout the UK, while retaining a healthy respect of East Anglian fare.
On any day you can expect a choice of six real ales, four premium lagers, and a guest lager, plus a wide selection of good wines, spirits and soft drinks.

The Old Stables
We pride ourselves in using a range of ingredients from local suppliers and support local and independent businesses.
We believe in good home cooked food, and our chefs have created a menu which offers a wide choice, along with seasonal specials, Sunday lunch menu and choices to cater for a wide range of dietary requirements.
Our new restaurant, The Old Stables, provides the perfect space for family dining, with food also being served in the bar and outside.
We aim to serve anyone wishing to dine with us, priority will be given to booked tables.
During the summer months and weather permitting, our Pizza Oven will be lit on Sunday afternoons 5-7pm.

Recently converted into a new dining space, The Old Stables restaurant is situated at the back of the pub.
This cosy and intimate space is perfect for our food to be enjoyed by all. Initially open Thursday to Sunday for dining.
The room is fully accessible, large disabled bathroom, wifi, heating and air conditioning.
This space is available to hire for a range of purposes including private dining and corporate events.

Located opposite the Fox and Hounds, The Little Fox Deli is a sandwich shop which also provides a mix of hot and cold outside catering.
We use premium ingredients from a range of local suppliers, which allows us to create homemade sausage rolls, scotch eggs, cakes and much more.
We provide local businesses with our products on a regular basis.
We are open for breakfast from 8am with barista coffee, bacon and sausage rolls, sandwiches, rolls and baguettes, hot sausage rolls and cake.

Social Events
As part of an active community, we hold a variety of regular events plus a few specials and annual favourites. Please see events tab for more information and timings.
Bingo
The first Sunday evening of the month, we host bingo with cash prizes and the chance to 'open the box'
Sports Bar
With two screens showing sky sports, there's always something to watch!
Here at the Fox and Hounds we have two teams that play league darts on Wednesday evenings
Golf Society
The Golf Society organises occassional Golfing days. All are welcome, but members benefit from discounts, and various prizes on the day. Event details are usually displayed in the pub, but full information is available from:

Open Mic Nights
Once a month on Sunday evenings, we host an open mic evening, where we invite budding artists to entertain us in a relaxing environment.

We have a tradition of providing live music from a variety of local acts and bands on Bank Holidays, usually on Sunday evening.
